Document and export issues

Last reviewed: 2026-07-10

Scope: Problems downloading an invoice PDF or exporting invoice data, with customer-safe fix steps.

Use this guide when an invoice PDF will not open, or an export does not download.

Invoice PDF

The PDF is not ready yet

Error message: Invoice does not have an associated PDF file yet or a message that the PDF is not ready.

Where you will encounter it: When you try to download or view an invoice PDF.

What it means: The PDF is still being generated. A PDF is available once the invoice finishes processing and validation.

Steps to fix:

  1. Wait for the invoice to finish processing.
  2. Refresh the invoice and try the download again.

The PDF could not be generated or retrieved

Error message: Messages such as Failed to generate PDF, Failed to retrieve PDF from storage, or PDF rendering service unavailable.

Where you will encounter it: When you download or view an invoice PDF.

What it means: The document service could not build or fetch the PDF. This is usually temporary.

Steps to fix:

  1. Wait a moment and try again.
  2. Contact JomeInvoice support with the invoice number if it keeps failing.

Exports

The export failed

Error message: Messages such as Export failed, Unable to export csv file, or Unable to create zip file for export.

Where you will encounter it: When you export invoices from a list.

What it means: The export could not be built.

Steps to fix:

  1. Try the export again.
  2. Narrow the date range or filter so the export is smaller, then export again.
  3. Contact support if it keeps failing.

The download is being prepared

Error message: Download is being prepared. You will get the download link from email shortly

Where you will encounter it: When you export a large batch.

What it means: The export is large, so it is prepared in the background and sent to you by email.

Steps to fix:

  1. Wait for the email with the download link.
  2. Check your spam or junk folder if it does not arrive.

Error message: Invalid download link or a message that the file could not be found.

Where you will encounter it: When you open an export link.

What it means: The link has expired or is no longer valid.

Steps to fix:

  1. Return to JomeInvoice and generate the export again.
  2. Use the newest download link.
